Harry's getting on really well with his Riding lessons. He really likes the Riding School that he's going to and gets on really well with the couple who run it. They make it so much fun for the kids. In the Tack room they have a Star Chart, where the kids get stars every time they go. They even get Stars if they fall off. If its a spectacular fall, they can get 10 stars. Harry came home yesterday and said, "I think I need to fall off Mum, to get some more stars". God help him, if he does, can do without another trip to the hospital.
We've had visitors over the Bank Holiday weekend. My friend Sarah & her family called into see us on Friday and my other Friend Tanya and her kids also came for a long weekend they went home yesterday. Ben managed to get some pictures of Sarah's boys meeting the ponies.
My beautiful boy Archie has a new family.. He will be going to his new home in Pembrokeshire, once he is weaned. I wish Carol & Tony every success with him. Hopefully, I will see him in the show ring next year strutting his stuff.
Had a phone call this morning from the organiser of the the Llandeilo Show, saying that they've had to cancel the show for this year. Apparently, with all the rain we've been having over the last few days, the field now resembles a bog. The Show was being held this Saturday and I'd entered Warrior, in three classes, Shetlands, Coloured & Spotted & The Mountain & Moorland. Such a shame that it's been cancelled, really feel for them, can you imagine all the organisation to run a show and then to have to cancel, right at the last minute. These pictures were taken at Nevern Show, while Mick's Parents were staying with us. Big Mick was holding Warrior for me, while I was changing the number on my Waistcoat.
Went to Lampeter yesterday, took Min & Warrior. Meet our friends Karen & Lisa there. Lisa was showing her Section A, and had already won the young handler. Well done Lisa. Lisa asked if she could show one of mine, so I let her show Min. Now Lisa has been showing Ponies since she was knee high to a Grass Hopper, but we knew the Judge wouldn't place her as he knows Lisa. (Bless her heart she's only 14). But really wanted to see, what would happen. So off Lisa went in her splendid WELSH tartan, she didn't put a foot out of place and Min was her usual laid back self and he put her down the line. We watched the Judge from outside the ring and he pulled everyone out, had a good look at every one's pony, did the walk up trot back, then lined them up and walked up the back of the line, but didn't even bother to look at Min or Lisa. Needless to say I thought it was very bad manners. Poor Lisa was most upset, when she come out of the ring and said to me, if you'd shown her you'd have been placed. Told her I wasn't bothered at all. I just wanted to see Min move. After all she's already won 1st place and Reserve Champion. I then went in the Ring with Warrior, thinking there is no way I'm going to be placed. So you can imagine my complete surprise when Warrior Won the class... If you look at the picture of Warrior on his own, it really looks like he's smiling....
Went to Nevern Show yesterday, and the rain held off while we did our classes. Warrior was entered in the Shetland Pony Class for 2 or 3 year old, Gelding Filly or Colt. He was placed 2ND in that class. No Miniature classes in the Shetlands. We then went into the Miniature Horses & Pony class, where he was also placed 2ND. Bless him he did really well... Today, I've given Min a bath as I'm taking her and Warrior to Lampeter Show tomorrow. Never been to Lampeter before, but apparently its a very large show.. Just finished bathing Min and got her rugged up and the heavens opened again. Just hoping that the rain holds off tomorrow...
Tomos our Blacksmith came this morning to do the ponies feet. Finally managed to get some pictures. Unfortunately, Tomos's little Terrier dog was killed in an accident a few months ago and it seemed weird him turning up without his dog. But today, what did I spy in the cab of his van, a cute little puppy, shes a collie cross and he's called her Tilly. Well I just had to get her out and have a cuddle. She's a real little cutie.
Was up with the lark this morning, to get ready for Fishguard Show. Warrior was entered in the Shetland Class for 2 & 3 Year old. No Miniature Classes today. He got Third Place. The Judge measured Warrior up against his leg and said he's very small isn't he. I wasn't sure if it was a compliment or not. Well done Warrior you behaved so well today, even with the wind blowing in your face. Two more shows next week, Nevern & Lampeter.
